London City Mission
St Mary's supports the work of the London City Mission (LCM) through prayer and giving.
Before Christmas each year, a representative of the mission visits the Church and we hold a "Toy Service" when all sorts of toys are donated for London City Missionaries to distribute to need families.
Throughout the year, the quarterly LCM magazine Changing London and their two-monthly prayer diary Together is available from the resource desk at the back of the church.
LCM's original aim was to “go to the people of London, especially the poor, to bring them to an acquaintance with Jesus Christ as Saviour, and to do them good by every means in their power.”
Its method was to employ full-time workers (all men in the beginning) assigning to each a “district” that he was to visit frequently, going from door to door.
That is the work LCM continues to do to this day, keeping going where they are not wanted, until they are wanted.
The LCM website - www.lcm.org.uk - provides information including details of their ministries, prayer requests and opportunities for service.
A prayer meeting for the work of LCM is held on the first Wednesday of the month at 10am in St Mary's church centre.
