St Mary's Church, Basis of Faith

 

We are Bible-based, Evangelical Christians, who believe in the Good News of Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Trinity, as proclaimed in the Bible.

We believe that:

• God the Father shows his love to us in Jesus the Son.
   
• Jesus Christ is the Son of God, sent to lead us into an ongoing relationship with our Father in Heaven. Through Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection to new life, we can be forgiven and live a ‘new-life-in-Christ.’
   
• The Holy Spirit of God is present within every Christian believer, and brings an increasing understanding and development of Jesus within us.
   
• The Bible is the true Word of God, and guides us in all aspects of Christian faith, life and behaviour.
   
• The Church is ‘The Body of Christ,’ as formed by all believers, with Jesus Christ as the Head.
