From the Rector

Sundays in February

Dear Parishioners,

Considering the ongoing Covid-19 situation,
we now need to suspend church services for all of February.

Should the current high levels of infection remain,
we might further suspend services beyond February.
We will keep you informed of this
primarily via the church website.

This will also apply to Wednesday Communion Services in the Old Church.

Our online services will continue,
together with 'Thursday Church by Zoom' at 9.55am,
and my daily 'facecasts' on Facebook & YouTube.

Please continue to pray for St Mary's Church and
one another during this difficult time.

Revd Don Smith

Prayer During Lockdown

Instead of opening a church building for private prayer,
which would require stewarding and cleaning every day,
may I encourage you to pray at home every day?

There are plenty of images on our website showing different aspects
of church life to stimulate your prayers.

There is my daily FaceCast to give you ideas.

There are news items every day requiring prayer.

As many people are 'working from home' during Lockdown,
please consider 'praying from home' to be an appropriate act of worship.

With kind regards, Don.

From the Archbishop of Canterbury

During the first lockdown we cheered for the NHS every Thursday.

During this second lockdown we invite you to fast in a way appropriate to you
as well as pray for our nation every Thursday,
for its leaders, its health and essential services and all those who suffer.
