The Persecuted Church

MissionThere are millions of persecuted Christians around the world suffering from all kinds of violence, discrimination and unjust imprisonment, and at this time, there is a significant increase in persecution world-wide. We are supporting our Christian brothers and sisters with our prayers and giving through Open Doors, and on several occasions have had a speaker giving us a first-hand report of his visits to persecuted Christians. We have recently become a “partner church” with Open Doors.

St Mary’s has supported the global petition, "One Million Voices of Hope", which will be presented to the new Secretary General of the United Nations in June 2017 and in November 2016 we held a prayer afternoon specifically in support of Iraq and Syria.

Open Doors is an international ministry serving persecuted Christians and churches worldwide. Open Doors supplies Bibles, leadership training, literacy programmes, livelihood support and advocacy services. It also seeks to mobilise the church in the UK & Ireland to serve Christians living under religious persecution.
