Christmas Shoe Box Appeal - Samaritan's Purse
In the lead up to Christmas each year, we take part in the amazing scheme that enables those of us who have so much to give a gift to children who have so little. Many of us fill a Christmas-wrapped shoebox with small toys, stationery, toothbrushes, hats and all sorts of other small gifts. They are collected in November, and sent for distribution to needy children suffering because of poverty, natural disaster or political unrest in areas of Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
A total of 111 'Operation Christmas Child Shoebox' packages were collected from St Mary's in 2014!
Thanks to all those who support this project by filling shoeboxes with gifts and returning them to Church by Sunday, 8 November.
Leaflets with details are available from the back of the Church and the Link Lounge.
Ready-made GO Boxes (50p each) are available from Reception. Alternatively, please feel free to use an old shoebox and decorate with Christmas wrapping paper.
The Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoebox Appeal has been running for 22 years, and is a lovely way to bring a smile to a child's face, somewhere else in the world.
"All shoeboxes are given to children in need, with no regard to their background or beliefs. Samaritan's Purse works with local partners in the area to ensure that the gift-filled shoeboxes are delivered with integrity and with respect to the local culture."
