Every night at 8 o’clock, those in need gather around a table on a car park in Clacton for soup, hot drinks, sandwiches, biscuits, crisps and fresh fruit.
Members of churches in Clacton and Frinton staff the Soup Run; it's St Mary’s turn every Tuesday, and one Saturday a month. Church members are on a rota to help serve or to provide sandwiches. Sometimes people provide other goodies, such as mince pies at Christmas.
The visitors are often lonely people, grateful for a mug of soup and a meeting place where they can see a friendly face, or find someone to listen to them.
Packet soup, coffee & tea bags, sugar, powdered milk, individually wrapped biscuits and crisps, ....... all would be very much appreciated. Cash donations to buy fresh fruit and equipment are also welcome.
Suitable contributions can be left at the Church Office - or in the marked box at the back of the church. Non-perishable food is also welcome in the box at the back of the church.
